Warren Michigan, (Saturday, January 20th, 2018) Saturday was a day of celebration for Jonathan at the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Banquet. We had a nice little January thaw occurring for weather and it made for a fantastic pleasant commute for the 100-mile trip. We had normal traffic and arrived just when we hoped to at DeCarlo’s Banquet and Convention Center in Warren Mi.
Lot’s of old friends
One of our favorite parts of this banquet is the old friends that we encounter. Friends from many tracks and regions of Michigan, who have met Jonathan and family through the years. Banquets are a time for fun and celebration. This banquet is special because many champions from all over the state gather here as part of the M.A.R.F.C. Hall of Famer’s are everywhere. Special to us is Jay Woolworth, who beelines to Jon every encounter we get just to say hello. Jay was freshly sprung from the hospital by his lovely wife Sue and eager to mingle with the crowd. We saw dozens of old friends this evening. It was a wonderful time. The banquet was off to a great start before we ever even ate!
Banquet Awards Delivered
We had a fantastic meal as always at the MARFC banquet. Bill Barnhart and Chuck Darling got things going smoothly in a hurry and worked through the nearly 100 award recipients in a timely entertaining manner. This is always a banquet challenge and they handled it very well. Our dear friend and sponsor Steve Martin was named MARFC promoter of the year. We were happy with that news.
it was a fantastic banquet, with lots of attendee’s and a strong youth attendance. This is good for the future of motorsports. Tracks from all over Michigan were represented. Good job MARFC. The kids met some well-established people in motorsports that are interested in their future success. A good way to conclude the evening’s banquet celebration.
